My Honest Review of Wealthy Affiliate

Introducing…Wealthy Affiliate!

As a skeptic, I’m a tough sale. I jumped in to things too many times in the past before realizing I should have given more thought to what I was getting myself into. This is not the case with Wealthy Affiliate. Well, not really. Read on to see my honest review of Wealthy Affiliate – my experience, that is, to date.

My daughter introduced me to Wealthy Affiliate in January 2017. She was very excited. In fact, her excitement was such that I signed up for the free membership that same day. Of course, she had already done a lot of research on Wealthy Affiliate before she joined. Knowing this, and knowing how smart (intelligent) she is, I had no problem also joining. Not to mention it was free to join!

The reason my daughter researched and then joined Wealthy Affiliate was she had a two-year-old and wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. You see, she was a firefighter/paramedic and worked 24 hours on, 48 hours off. She loved the 48 hours off, but she did not like being away from her daughter overnight on the 24-hour shifts.

The reason I was so eager to join Wealthy Affiliate was because shortly after I retired from my 32-year career in law enforcement, my pension was in turmoil. I worked a few other jobs to keep busy and to ensure money kept coming in, and I ended up taking on a maintenance job at a nearby church. The money was OK, but I was still not in control of my financial future. More on this later.

What prompted me to sign up with Wealthy Affiliate?

My daughter simply explained that Wealthy Affiliate is Internet Marketing. She was quick to add that it is not multilevel marketing – something she knew I had tried at least three times in my life and failed miserably each time.

She told me that I would need to choose a topic I enjoyed talking about or enjoyed doing – basically something I was passionate about. Then she explained that the Wealthy Affiliate training would guide me in selecting my topic (niche), and would teach me everything I needed to know to get up and running.

I was impressed with the free membership, so I signed up the very same day. My daughter was at my house when she explained Wealthy Affiliate to me, and then she went home. I took a short break and decided to search the Internet myself for scoop on Wealthy Affiliate. My heart sank when I saw the search results, one of them being, Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam?.

Is Wealthy Affiliate a scam?

Great! Just when I was excited about it, I came across an article that made me wonder. At least, I thought, I was out no money.

Ah, but the article went on to say Wealthy Affiliate is legitimate. I read three different posts that seemed to imply Wealthy Affiliate might be a scam, only to find out the titles were simply “teasers” to get me to read them. Everything I read confirmed what my daughter told me. Wealthy Affiliate is legitimate.

Might I add that I’ve been a Wealthy Affiliate member for almost two years now and have still found no evidence that Wealthy Affiliate is a scam? On the contrary. I was totally sold on it.

Wealthy Affiliate is real! Wealthy Affiliate is legitimate!

Premium membership – is it worth it?

Within hours after signing up for Wealthy Affiliate’s free membership, I signed up for the premium membership. Why? Two reasons:

  1. I was so impressed, so intrigued with the training (I dove right in!), I knew without a doubt I was going to be in it for the long haul. I committed to Wealthy Affiliate and there was no backing out for me.
  2. When I do something, I make sure I do it right. And doing it right with Wealthy Affiliate meant going premium so I could have my very own personal Website.

Let me quickly explain that there are many more than two benefits of becoming a premium member, but at the time, I was primarily interested in the two I mentioned above. Here’s a table showing the option available.

Is there anything else? You betcha!

Growing up, my dad taught me to always help people, to be of service to others. You know, to be respectful and helpful.

Perhaps that’s why I became a police officer, and later a home inspector, and then a maintenance man at a nearby church. No matter where I worked, I had the opportunity to help people. And I did help people.

Here at Wealthy Affiliate, I again have the opportunity to help people. One of my Websites is geared specifically toward educating homeowners how to have a safer, happier home. My other Website is aimed at sharing my life experiences with others, possibly saving them time and money in the long run.

Yes, both Websites have affiliate links, which will help me earn an income, but my primary goal is to help others. The income will follow. I will reap what I sow.

Do you enjoy helping people? If so, join Wealthy Affiliate, start the training, and don’t look back. Start the free membership. You have nothing to lose. I’ll be available to help you and encourage you. If you later decide to become a premium member, you’ll also have access to help from the entire Wealthy Affiliate community, along with encouragement beyond measure.

Need more convincing? Listen to this!

My mom outlived my dad by 19 years. I loved her dearly, but she spent too much time sitting in front of the TV. Her quality of life was not what it could have been in her final years.

On the other hand, there were several women in her apartment complex who were older than she was. They were very active and looked young. One resident looked like she was in her 70s but she was in her early 90s!

These women didn’t look their age because they stayed active. Active physically and mentally. I asked a few of them how they stayed so young. They did crossword puzzles, Sudoku puzzles, volunteer work, walked to the grocery store – you get the idea.

So here I am at the age of 60. I’m retired, so I could just sit around and do nothing, but I refuse to go that route. Watching TV is not high on my list of things to do. Being out and about enjoying life, helping others, that what I enjoy doing. Keeping my mind and body active is important. I make sure to do that by researching, writing, maintaining my house, car and yard, and by going to the gym. I’m a DIYer and a blogger.

And now for the icing on the cake!

Being financially secure is my goal. I trust that is your goal, too, or you wouldn’t be reading this. My wife and I want to be able to travel at will, go fishing and hunting, help others in need, and better support the work of our church, including providing better support for our missionaries.

I’m not talking about traveling the world and abandoning my church, children and grandchildren. I’m not talking about being selfish, living for ourselves. For some, that is their desire. We each have our own goals. But for us, if we want to celebrate our anniversary on a cruise ship, take a scenic drive, check out every restaurant in town, we want to be able to do so without worrying about finances.

Are we there yet?

I entitled this article, My Honest Review of Wealthy Affiliate, for a reason. I’m going to be honest with you – I always will be.

To answer the question plainly, I’m not there yet. Though I am a premium member, I am not yet where I’d like to be financially. The reason? Well, first let me tell you it is no fault of Wealthy Affiliate, nor is it Kyle’s fault or Carson’s fault. It’s really not even a fault.

The reason I’m not “there yet”? When I started Wealthy Affiliate, I was also doing home inspections. I poured myself into my business, and it took up a great deal of my time. Being a part-time blogger was not ideal for me at that time, but I learned a little here and a little there. I had a lot of things going on. That is not to say you can’t do it, because YOU CAN!

I’ve learned a lot in my time here at Wealthy Affiliate, and I still have much more to learn. All I have to do is search the vast library or articles on Wealthy Affiliate to find my answers or to learn and grow.

So, does Wealthy Affiliate work?

Yes, Wealthy Affiliate works. No, it is not a scam. You probably already figured out that Wealthy Affiliate is not a “get-rich-quick” scheme. I’ve seen many testimonials to the fact that it works. The only way it can’t work is if you become frustrated and give up. With every article I post I am encouraged that I am helping others. I am beginning to see results, but it takes time.

Wealthy Affiliate is a give and take community. We help each other. I viewed and commented on several Website articles and have in turn received many comments on my articles. This process helps each of us get indexed (noticed) by Google, which is a good thing.

I am now 100% retired, except I work at home as a full-time blogger.

My goal is still to help others, but I’ll also be working hard at securing my financial freedom. Click below to begin your path to financial freedom. You can start for free and do not need a credit card to sign up.
